Rarity calculations are similar to those used by many other rarity sites. If you're interested in the theory behind the rarity calculations, this article gives a very good overview.

Each ThetaPunks UNCHAINED NFT is ranked by:

• Assigning a score to each attribute based on the number of other ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFTs with the same value for the attribute. The exact formula is:
  attribute score = number minted / number with same value
• Attributes with a value of "None" are scored based on the number of other ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFTs that also do not have a value for the attribute, because sometimes not having a particular attribute could be rare!
• All attribute scores are summed to give a total score for the ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFT.
• The custom ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFTs are given a rank of 1. This is not based on the attributes they possess.
• The rest of the ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFTs are ranked starting at rank 2 for the highest score (rarest) to lowest score (least rare).
• The less common ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFTs with a Type of Alien, Ape, Unchained and Zombie are ranked based on their Type and Name attributes only. These ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFTs don't possess any of the other attributes so they do not contribute to the score.
• The "Special" Astronaut Punks all have a different value for the "Special" attribute, but for ranking purposes they are ranked as if they all had the same value for that attribute (eg. Special = True). The collection's creator didn't want these to outrank the really rare ones, but still wanted them to be a little bit special!
• If any ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFTs have the same rarity score they are further sorted by edition number so that lower editions will have the better rank. Other than the customs, no ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFTs are tied for rank.

The method used here to calculate a ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFT's rarity based on individual attributes, while good, does have some shortcomings:

• Very rare attributes contribute significantly to the score. This could result in large changes in ranking in the earlier days of the project when some attributes are rare, but may not be as rare as more ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFTs are minted.
• For the more common items with higher ranks, where the bulk of the ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFTs sit, ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFTs can be very different in rank despite having similar scores.
• As the combination of attributes possessed by a ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFT aren't considered, the algorithm cannot determine the uniqueness or rarity of the ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFT as a whole. If a particular combination of attributes is considered particular rare and valuable, this may not be reflected in the rarity ranking.
• All the ThetaPunk UNCHAINED NFTs look great and are distinctly different regardless of the rarity ranking, so take this with a pinch of salt.
